The NIA is made up of Professional
Architects, established in April, 1960 with the main
objective of promoting the practice of the profession of
Architecture.
From an initial membership of 13 at
inception, the Institute’s membership currently stands at over
4,500 as at the last general assembly in November, 2006. The
membership covers various classes spanning Student membership
through Graduate, Associate, Full and Honorary membership to
Fellows of the Institute.
The Institute functions through a main
organ, the Executive Council, which comprises of Honorary
Officers, elected at Bi-annual General Meetings as well as
Co-opted and Appointed members.
The Council is chaired by the President,
who also takes the chair at all General Assembly Meetings.
