PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE |
| • |
To continuously educate the public about the dynamic role and functions of the Architects in the built environment. |

To build and maintain a good public image for the Institute, the Architects and the profession of Architecture, through various public relations programmes and activities. |
| • |
To ensure that the interest of Architecture is recognised by the public opinion, official and semi official bodies and organisations. |
| • |
To develop and maintain adequate feedback mechanisms on public perception of the architect and Architecture on issues affecting the built environment |
| • |
To market the services of Architecture thus making the services of the Architects appreciated and thus relevant. |
| • |
To build and sustain cordial relationship among the membership and with the members of allied professions in the building industry. |

STUDENTS AFFAIRS COMMITTEE |
| • |
To act as liaison between all the students of Architecture and the Institute (NIA) |
| • |
To facilitate the registration and integration of students of Architecture with the Institute. |
| • |
To build and sustain the interest of Architecture students and their active participation in relevant activities of the Institute (NIA) |
| • |
To engender and organise inter-school competitions and other competitions amongst the schools of Architecture in Nigeria |
| • |
To organise distinguished lectures on the various aspects of the profession and in relation to current trends in practice in the various schools of Architecture. |
| |
BOARD OF ARCHITECTURAL EDUCATION |
| • |
To pre-qualify, organise conduct, invigilate, mark examination papers for |
| • |
|
Professional Proficient Exams (PPE) |
| • |
|
Finals I & II Exams (FEI & FEII) |
| • |
|
Architectural Technicians Scheme (ATC) Exams
and to recommend the names of the successful candidates to the Council for approval |

To screen and verify the qualifications of all the applicants for admissions and registrations into all classes of membership |
| • |
To visit all the Schools of Architecture in Nigeria for the purposes of: |

To, on behalf of NIA, and in conjunction with other relevant bodies, establish, maintain and update the minimum academic standard for the study of Architecture in Nigeria |
| • |
To initiate and organise periodic seminars, exhibitions, workshops and Continuing Education Programmes and Mid-Career Courses for the members of the Institute (NIA) and other interested relevant professional bodies. |

To compile, periodically, the past question papers of the NIA Examinations for sale. |
| |
PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE COMMITTEE |
| • |
To engender adequate remunerations commensurate with the architect’s role and responsibility; and equitable salaries and working conditions of salaried Architects. |
| • |
To protect registered indigenous architectural practice against unfair and ruthless foreign competition and unethical practices thus ensuring the rights of indigenous practice to equitable proportions of government projects. |

To promote observance of mandatory scale of fees for all Architects practicing in Nigeria |
| • |
To ensure that persons and firms not duly registered do not practice as Architects |
| • |
Issuing of monthly price check of building materials |
| • |
To define and redefine whenever necessary the functions of the Architects in a changing world and his widening role in the building and planning team. |
| • |
To ensure strict observance of the Institute’s (NIA) code of professional conduct, ethics and professional practice policies thus protecting public interest and enhancing the status of Architects in Nigeria. |

To bring erring members into line by applying the stipulated sanctions |
| • |
To settle disputes arising between practicing firms or Architects. |
| • |
Issue periodic information and tit-bits to Architects on how to avoid supplanting and other practices that will breed confrontation. |

INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS COMMITTEE |
| • |
To initiate NIA’s policies, programmes and activities as they relate to international organisations like AUA, CAA, IUA. |
| • |
To promote cooperation and contact between national and international Institutes, societies and association of Architects and other professions whose aims and objectives are compatible with those of Nigerian Institute of Architects |
| • |
To promote Nigerian Architectural expertise in other countries. |
| • |
To process all applications for admission into all the classes of membership and recommend the names of successful applicants to Council for approval and admission |
| • |
To allocate membership numbers to all successful candidates in the various categories of membership |
| • |
To enlighten members on conditions for admission into the various classes of membership. |
| • |
To plan and organise the annual specialised forum of Building Materials and Construction Technology and other related programmes |
| • |
To publish periodically the Archibuilt Compendium and annual Archibuilt Up-date |
| • |
To create a meeting point/interactive forum for all stakeholders in built environment |
| • |
To promote the development of indigenous technology. |
| |
FEMALE Architects OF NIGERIA (FAN) |
| • |
To mobilise the women members of the Institute to fully participate in the activities of the Institute. |
| • |
To encourage and counsel female students of Architecture. |
| • |
To carry out any other activities assigned to it by the Council from time to time. |
| • |
To mobilize and co-ordinate all the sources of revenue for the Institute (NIA) |
| • |
To initiate, organise, promote and enter into any such enterprise as may be deemed beneficial to the Institute. |
| • |
To organise and administer benevolent fund for assisting its members in distress and for other charitable causes. |
| • |
To provide logistic support for any revenue yielding activities of the Institute |
| • |
To initiate review periodically the financial policies and programmes of the Institute. |
| • |
To promote and encourage the development of architectural education and research in its entire ramification and facilitate exchange of Architects teachers, researchers and students. |

To put in place modalities to integrate our traditional modes of self expression, arts and modern techniques to create a new indigenous Nigerian Architecture. |
| • |
To encourage the academic members of the Institute to actively participate in the activities of the Institute and sensitise non-academic members to become members of the Institute. |
