Introduction

The Nigerian Institute of Architects recognises and acknowledges the need for capacity building of Architects by virtue of their important roles in re-shaping the three-dimensional environment of people, and by extension, the Nation, through planning, design, development, maintenance and provision of suitable shelter for all facets of daily life (i.e. Homes, Schools, Offices, Religious Centres, Institutions, Industries, Recreational Facilities, Hospitality, etc.). Thus, a Structural Plan for the Continuous Professional Development Programme (CPDP) was developed by the Building Research and Standards Committee (BRSC) to achieve the purpose of realising the objectives of ensuring the planned process to acquire, update, improve and maintain proficiency of the Nigerian Architect.
